Oregano oil is obtained from the fresh leaves of common oregano (Origanum vulgare L.), or common oregano, sometimes also called wild marjoram. It belongs to the light family (Lamiaceae), is found (practically) in all climates and has been famous for its medicinal properties for centuries. The essential oil is characterized by a strong, herbal, but still warm and pleasant scent. Proficient noses can also detect a pungent hint of pepper.
The oil has high antimicrobial activity. As studies show, it is among the top natural oils with the highest activity against various microorganisms. It shows a broad spectrum of activity against bacteria and mold. In addition, it is excellent against fungi, and therefore the diseases they cause.
The oil can be applied topically (to the affected area), as an additive to skin care products or in a "sanitizing" bath. Oregano proves invaluable during infections involving the upper respiratory tract. This natural preparation will help relieve coughs, facilitate free breathing and eliminate the feeling of stupor. Oregano oil has also found its way perfectly into cosmetics. It can be used for acne or isolated eczema (especially of bacterial origin).
Antioxidants contained in the extract perfectly tighten and nurture the skin, making it soft and radiant. Not insignificant is the effect of oregano oil on mood - it will add energy and bring a positive atmosphere, while calming. It will work well for massages, baths and air aromatization. The rooms will gain freshness, and the residents will breathe healthily.
